Round 16 - Belmont Villa Reserve vs Whitfords

Aug
19

To start of with I would like to thanks the Vets that came down to help us out today.

I and the other guys that turned up very much appreciated it and for the first time in a long time I enjoyed playing.

There was a different feel about the team today because everybody knew that nobody else was going to give up no matter what the score or how the game was going. For the first time is 4 years of on and off playing I felt the "Villa Spirit". I look forward to playing next year with the vets with that sort of commitment.

Round 15 - Spearwood Dalmatinac vs Belmont Villa Firsts

Aug
12

It was a wet and windy day, not the best conditions for football, but was actually nice to not be playing in the hot sun.

This week saw a couple more regular first teamers back in the squad and with that a bit more confidence regardless of the confusion over what socks to wear pre-game.

Round 15 - Spearwood Dalmatinac Vs Belmont Villa Reserves (Stephen O'Keefe)

Aug
12

A 10 man Belmont Villa reserves took the field against Spearwood in less than desirable conditions. The pitch was water logged and a reluctant referee threatened to call off the game if the rain became too heavy. To say we got off to a slow start would be an understatement. In my opinion our consistently slow starts are caused by the inability of players to turn up on-time as promised, or at all. It is very hard to get focused on the match when you are not sure you are even going to have a full team to put on the park, as was the case today.

Quarter Finals Amateur Cup - Belmont Villa Prem Firsts vs Hamersley Rovers Prem

Aug
05

Villa always knew it was going to be a tough day in the office with 8 first team players missing in the biggest game of the year. We went out with a defensive structure with the aim of catching Hamersley on the break. Hammers were well organized and passed the ball around well. The first 15 minutes saw a wave of Hamersley attacks as Villa were getting used to playing together and Hamersley were rewarded with a goal. After the Goal Villa started to play solid football with each member playing their role well and we looked dangerous on the counter. Hamersley did hit the post from a curling shot 25 yards out, and with 30 seconds left of the half, Hamersley caught us on the break (ironic), their right winger beat two of our players and put in the perfect cross as their forwards streamed into the box for one of them to head the ball in the back of the net.

North Perth United have scored a thumping win over Belmont Villa at home.

After leading 1-0 at half time, North Perth came out firing in the second half scoring six goals to one.

Ryan Baxter scored for Belmont Villa, however after being 3-0 down the Belmont Villa attitude changed and the floodgates opened for North Perth who ran on to win in emphatic fashion.

Ryan Fitzgerald and Morgan Dendall both scored hat tricks for North Perth, while Steve Henry put his nomination in for goal of the season finishing with one.

Round 13 - North Perth vs Belmont Villa Reserves

This has got to go down as the hardest game for me to accept this season.

We have been the better team in many of our games so far this season but this is the first time where we have dominated for 99% of the game.

Fremantle Croatia broke the deadlock in the second half to claim an important three points away from home.

The game was still tied 0-0 at half time, however Daaniel Francis changed that 20 minutes from full time.

Round 12 - Belmont Villa Reserves vs Fremantle Croatia

I will tell you what I heard from the bulk of the players from after the game as I didn't really look at the game from a coaching perspective this week. I concentrate too much on playing to be a player coach so at leaset I know I will never go down that path without a trusted assistant.

Cup Round 3 - Belmont Villa Firsts vs North Lake

Jul
14

Another favorable cup draw for Villa as again we avoided a premier side in the 3rd round - North Lake were the visitors to Gerry Archer. The game was not to be taken lightly as history said our record was not great against Espanol.
