Wet and windy conditions are the nicest way to describe Sunday at BB United…
Always a tough match at the cage and although I thought we played very well we still ended up on the losing side. Setting up a defensive formation we managed to cope with BBs long ball tactics for well over an hour in fact taking a well-deserved 2-1 lead at half-time. Adrian’s early deflected shot found its way into the back of the net only for BB to equalise from the penalty spot about 10 minutes later. But what always seems to happen in our games if there is a penalty at one end there will be one at the other and just before half-time we were awarded a penalty as Declan was tripped in the box. Needless to say it was converted.
A 2-1 lead at half-time that should have been more if I didn’t scuff a finish one-on-one with the keeper. The second half we had our chances Patrick going close a couple of times, Sami and Richard both had great opportunities and I hit the post. But as we failed to make the most of our lead we were punished at the back with Danny pulling his hammy kicking the ball and no sub goal-keeper the last 10 minutes was very tough. Their aerial threat told as 2 long-balls and a corner resulted in BB goals and they ran out 4-2 winners.
A tough game but defensively I thought for the most part very good, if we had been a bit more clinical we well could have walked away with something. Looking forward to next week and hopefully getting some players back.
