Cup Round 3 - Belmont Villa Firsts vs North Lake

Another favorable cup draw for Villa as again we avoided a premier side in the 3rd round - North Lake were the visitors to Gerry Archer. The game was not to be taken lightly as history said our record was not great against Espanol.

The game started with NL having all the early possession however we found ourselves 2-nil up inside 20 minutes thanks to Sam finishing of a break and then Fuode lancing in a near-post header from a Kev free-kick. Fair play to NL they continued to hold the ball and their possession paid off twice just on 30 minutes. First a shot from the edge of the box took the biggest of deflections of Mickey leaving Chris with no chance then we gifted time and space to prob the only guy on their side who could and he slotted home from 25 yards. After that we woke up and had a series of chances leading into half-time, 2 being cleared of the line, not could find no way through. 2-all it stayed at halftime.

Second half we came a out and created chances straight away and under very little pressure at our end. Midway through the half we made the breakthrough Fudi(?) again the scorer with a great run a finish into the bottom corner. 10 minutes later Declan cracked one from 25 yards and the ball nestled into the top corner- goal of the season contender. game Over although Patrick did manage to get himself sent of with ten minutes to play.
